Urea formaldehyde glue
An all purpose white powder based glue which when mixed with cold water gives an adhesive with a working time of up to 3 hours and a drying time of 6 hours achieving a water resistant bond stronger than the wood itself.

Aliphatic resin glue
An all purpose glue with the ease of use of an ordinary PVA
(white) glue but with a much faster 'grab' time allowing shorter cramping times and a much harder and stronger bond which is non creep and  can be easily sanded.

This is an immensely strong type of glue suitable for wood, metal, masonry, fibreglass etc.  It is completely waterproof and foams slightly as it dries to fill gaps.

Gelatine based animal glues.
The traditional 'glue pot' glue – animal glue remains a very strong performer for general use and is the superior glue for traditional hand veneering methods because the hot water content helps the veneer lie flat.
The pearls or granules must be pre- soaked in cold water for a few hours and then are brought to a simmer in a glue pot and applied hot.  Animal glues are not waterproof so are ideal for use in joints which may need to be opened up for repairs.

Cyanoacrylate adhesives – Superglues.
Top quality examples of this very useful group of adhesives with some unique properties. Zap Ca is thin and watery and will successfully and instantly repair hairline cracks and heat checks in turnery and can give an instant and effective fix when trickled into loose mortice and tenon joints in chairs and other items of furniture. I know of no other glue that has such a strong capillary action.
Zap A Gap is almost instant setting but is a thicker more viscous formulation that has very good gap filling properties and is therefore of great use for more substatantial repairs in turnery.
Slo Zap is a viscous slow setting formulation allowing assembly and alignment of parts and can be used with zip kicker for a final bond.
